Craft Room Organizing-Store over 200 Rolls of Ribbon in a 12" square Space!

How do you store over 200 rolls of ribbon?  Easy!  Just put this little project together and you've got something you can put on your craft desk that is only twelve inches square.and spins around so you have easy access to ALL your ribbon rolls. (2" round ribbon rolls from American Crafts)

SUPPLIES:
1 piece of wood 11x11 (top and bottom pieces need to be larger than the lazy susan piece)
1 piece of wood 12x12x2  or take a piece of wood 11" x 11" and add pieces of wood on each side to make   it a 2" base--that's what we did.
8 pieces of dowel each 15" long
Drill with 1/4" bit
Lazy Susan Turntable
Screws
Paint or stain

(1) On the top piece of wood,  space out and drill  8 holes with a 1/4" drill bit. A 1/4" dowel were the perfect size for our American Crafts rolls of ribbon.

(2) Then attach the lazy susan turntable to the top piece of wood.
(3) Drill a access hole in that top piece. This will give you access to the bottom piece so you can drive a screw into the bottom piece of the lazy susan, down into the base.
(4) Then attach the lazy susan to the bottom piece with a screw (through the access hole)

Yes, this involves measuring and a drill. You can purchase the lazy susan turntable at

After you pull the ribbon off of a roll you can either use a piece of tape or a tiny pin to keep it from unraveling.  Such a small thing that will prove to be so useful in your craft room! (Thanks to Chad the builder for making this for me)

Easter Dollar Store Finds-Cute Easter Eggs and More!

Found some really fun things for Easter at my local Dollar Store (not All a Dollar, or General Dollar or even Family dollar---Dollar Tree is where these can be found) They have sooooo many cute things for Easter. Lots of cute Easter eggs. I only picked up these four sets. The four sets I purchased today come 3 to a package for $1.

Love the polka dot eggs.  They measure 3.5" tall and 7.5" around.  Purple, green and blue with white polka dots.

This cute bunny measures 4" tall and 7" around. Fill them up with yours or your kids favorite candy.

These plastic carrots are perfect for the Easter basket.  They measure 4" tall and 5.5" wide.
They have a flat bottom so they can sit up as shown. They are orange with a green top.
These would be cute with a cute tag hanging from the top with someones name for
a place card for Easter.  Just got a good idea from a friend of our blog.
Goldfish crackers would be great inside the carrots--same color and small.

These Easter chicks are light orange.  They measure 3.5" tall and 7" around.
Their little wings, beak and feet are a darker orange. Fill them full of candy, money, small trinkets etc.  You could even put a little grass on the bottom of each one before adding the treats.

They also had:
Darling Easter refrigerator magnets
Paper Easter grass
Sports themed Easter eggs
Bunny ear headbands
Funny bunny glasses for the kids
Lots of different Easter baskets (basket in top photo is from Dollar Store)
Easter eggs on picks for decorating and some for hanging (with loop-small)
More Bunny shaped eggs
Easter Pencils
Lots of fun Easter candy
and much more!

If you need some new Easter eggs this year (and even if you don't)
I'd head right over before the selection is all picked over.
They have small, medium and jumbo sized eggs.  You'll love what you find!

Valentine's Day Book Marks and Tags for your little Readers! It's a Sugar-Free Gift

By now you may all have out Valentine's Day book marks. Now we are sharing a fun way to package them or use them as an embellishment on a package of treats. Just wrap up the book marks in a Pretzel Bag, add one of our free tags ("You wrote the book on COOL") and you've made it an even more special Valentine's Day gift.

Click HERE to get these bookmarks

Take it another step by using the wrapped book marks for the top of a wrapped package, whether it's a box of dollar candy or a box of chocolates or any other gift or even a large candy bar.

Hot Tamales make a fun Valentine's Day treat. We wrapped up the box using cardstock, but you could use wrapping paper, newspaper or any other kind of paper.  Then cut out a piece of cardstock to use for the band that goes around the middle.  The dollar candy boxes are different sizes so just buy the candy you like and wrap it up accordingly. (We left the ends open)   Coordinate the paper you wrap the box, the band and the tag so you have a perfectly matching package. Then just attach the book mark to the top of the package. We used a 1.5" scallop punch for the tags. You could use up to 2" punch if you like.

We wrapped each book mark up individually but you could include 3 or 4 book marks within one package. Tie up with twine and then add the tag and finish with a bow.  You can get pretzel bags at any craft store (Where the chocolate molds and cake decorating things are sold)
